2010 Red Hen House Art Show & Sale
|
The first annual Art Show & Sale at The Red Hen House Retreat Center was held as part of Brooten’s Bonanza Valley Days celebration, July 10-12, 2009. It was a great addition to the city-wide celebration.
Forty-four art pieces were displayed, submitted by nine artists. Mediums included were acrylic, oil, photography, watercolor, intarsia, rosemale, glass & fabric, . Awards were given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. A reception was held on Friday evening where the public selected the People’s Choice award winner.
Congratulations to the winners! 1st: Tracy Anderson of Kensington entered an oil painting titled “Mary Did You Know”. Her subject was Michelangelo’s Pieta. 2nd: Wei-Wen Huang of Sedan, (Tiawan) submitted “NiNi from Hungary”, done in acrylics. Her subject was a fellow student she met while studying in Hungary. 3rd: Donna Dean of Alexandria submitted a watercolor image titled “Be Back Soon”. This image depicts the changes occurring in our rural countryside.
People’s Choice – the winner of this coveted award was “Purple Tree Silouette”, an enhanced photograph submitted by Candy Bohjanen-Hammitt of Alexandria. Thank you to everyone who submitted work, attended our first show, and to those who took home awards. This was a great event for The Hen House and we look forward to a bigger show in 2010!
2010’s show will be held on July 9-11, again in conjunction with Brooten’s Bonanza Valley Days. There will be a theme for the show which will be announced soon. 2010 entry forms will also be added to this website in August.
We are looking forward to 2010 and the participation of even more artists! Thank you! |
