2012 Red Hen House Art Show & Sale
Call for Artists
PROSPECTUS

The Red Hen House Art Show & Sale is open to all artists 16 years or older.  Art should be framed if appropriate.  Nudes done in a tasteful manner will be accepted solely at the discretion of the Committee.

Awards: A cash award will be given for Best of Show. Cash prizes will be given for 2nd place, plus merit awards. Amounts will be determined by the number of entries. Art will be judged on design, originality, and mastery of the media.

Media Accepted: All two dimensional painting  media (oil, watercolor, acrylic, pen & ink, drawings, pastel, collage, etc.) Also original works in glass, fabric, photography, and computer art.  Maximum size is 3’x3’.  Three dimensional art will be accepted including glass, wood carving, metals, clay.  If you use other medium, please call.  Maximum size is 2’x2’x2’.

Specifications: All entries must be original with all components created by the artist with no instructor supervision. Accepted paintings must be framed and wired for hanging. (No saw tooth hangers.) Entry  form labels must be completely filled out and attached to the back. Please include a narrative or description of your thoughts about each art piece entered. These comments will be typed onto cards and placed on display next to each art piece for the viewing public.

Size limit:  Two-dimensional art: not to exceed 3 feet in any direction.   Three-dimensional art: not to exceed 2 feet in any direction.   The delivered artwork must be exactly as it appears on the photo, with no alterations. No need to include frame in photo.

Jury/Entry Fees: $7 per art piece, maximum of $25 per artist. Limit 4 entries per artist. Please make checks payable to “The Red Hen House”.

Sales: No commission will be charged on sales and all sales will be between the artist and the buyer. It is recommended that all art remain hanging until the end of the show.

June 15: Postmark deadline for entries & photos.
June 22: Notification of acceptance via email.
July 9: Deliver artwork to:

       Sorry, Shipped artwork cannot be accepted at this time.

July 13: Meet the Artists Opening Reception   5 pm till 8 pm
                 Vote for People’s Choice Award
                 Winners will be announced
                 Refreshments served.
Show Hours:
                   Friday, 5 pm – 8 pm
                   Saturday, 10 am – 5 pm
Pick up artwork
               Monday,  10 am – 1 pm

2010 Art Show Review

The 2010 Art Show & Sale at The Red Hen House Retreat Center was held on July 9-11, 2010 as part of Brooten's Bonanza Valley Days celebration. It was another great addition to the city-wide celebration.

Fifty-six art pieces were displayed, submitted by nineteen artists. Mediums included acrylic, oil, fused glass, 2 color linocut, pencil, photography, watercolor, fabric, fiber, pastels, ink, & viscosity etching.

Congratulations to the winners!
Awards were given for 1st & 2nd places and People's Choice. There were also two Honorable Mention awards. A reception was held on Friday evening where the public selected the People's Choice award winner, enjoy the pianist, Mercedes Hagen, and had an opportunity to meet some of the artists.

2012's show will be held on July 13-14, 2012, again in conjunction with Brooten's Bonanza Valley Days. Both tw and three dimensional art will be accepted. Refer to the Registration Form for deadlines and details for submission.
